My condolences to Jose's family! This news comes as a shock to me and my colleagues!
I am a physician who works at the VA hospital in Tampa and have always had high regard for Jose.
Jose was always so kind and helpful. No request was too small or insignificant for him.
I loved his smile and his gentle demeanor. I always thought that he was too kind to be the Chief of a Service.
May God rest his soul! I am praying for him and for the entire family for solace and comfort.
May he rest in peace!

Lourdes and the entire Seymour family,
I worked for Jose in the Pasco Outpatient Clinic, as I told you today at the wake, Lourdes, I will never forget Jose Seymour. He made my career and encouraged and supported me the entire time I worked for him. My life was enriched by his presence in it. I know you have some hard days ahead of you but I hope your sorrow is accompanied by the knowledge of all Jose’s good works in the lives of those who knew him as the boss.

Jose was always such an inspiration to me. I remember when I first met Jose and Lourdes, while working in Tampa, and they shared the story of how they met and moved to America. They had many obstacles to overcome and they did it together. They were the epitome of the American dream and I have such heartfelt respect for how they faced obstacles and became so successful. Jose inspired me to be a better leader, leading by example. He was always calm and cool under pressure and I tried my best to emulate that although I never could do it like he could. The love he had for his wife and children inspired me to be a great mom and to know that the love of my life was out there somewhere if I just looked hard enough for him. When I got remarried, my own marriage was modeled on the love, trust and respect of my friends the Seymours. Jose will always be in my heart in that special place where we keep memories of our most dear friends and family. Lourdes, you and your children will be in my thoughts and prayers and you know you can turn to me if you need me.

Our heart aches to know you’re no longer with us. I will always carry Tio Jose with me. Although you don’t claim it because it was spelled differently, I will always give you credit for my first name. You came through for me on that one. My favorite memory as a kid was Tio, Jenny, and I singing and playing More Than Words in the piano room. I love you, and can’t wait till the Lord comes and we can all be together again.

Jose, I will miss you! I enjoyed working with you over the years and will always remember the innovative projects we worked together on such as physician order entry, the Newton and the Coupler with Dr Harris. You always took care of the clinicians and played a key role in the care we provided at the James A Haley VA hospital. I also enjoyed working with you when you were acting Associate Director!
