Obituary of Stephen Richard Marshall

Marshall, Stephen Richard, 83, of Land O’ Lakes FL. peacefully passed away on August 31,2022 after a brief illness. Born Northbridge, MA. June 10th, 1939, son of Florence E. Marshall of Thomaston, ME. He is survived by his sister Elaine Marshall and nephew Kevin LaPlume, Children Dean, Diane & Darren, grandchildren Olivia Marshall, Julia Wade, Amelia Marshall, Isobel Marshall.

Steve achieved Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts during high school. He graduated from the East Coast Aero Technical School 1959. He entered service in the United States Army from 1959-1962, 5th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO. Steve joined the Connecticut State Police Dept. in 1966, and retired in 1986, after receiving the department’s highest Medal of Honor. Marshall also provided three years of service to the Army National Guard of Connecticut 26th Aviation Battalion receiving an Honorable discharge in 1974. He also achieved a Degree of Associates in Science in Law Enforcement in 1975. Steve retired from the Connecticut Air National Guard after 20 years of service, enlisted E6 of 103 CAMSO/FL26, Bradley Airbase, Granby, CT. He was a longtime member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Along with police and military service, he also worked at the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, CT for 20 years as an Environmental Investigator before he retired to Florida in 2009. He also worked at Pratt Whitney in East Hartford, CT. from 1964-1966.

Steve raised three children Dean, Diane & Darren in Tolland Ct. He spent several years at Cape Cod where he enjoyed biking, boating, fishing, catching lobsters and bathing in the sun on the beach. He also enjoyed reading the newspaper and comics including his favorites - The Peanuts (Snoopy), Looney Tunes and 007 movies. He had a passion for war history, mystery novels and he spent many evenings and weekends watching his favorite baseball team - the Boston Red Sox.

Burial Services will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102Ave, Bushnell, FL. 33513 on Monday November 14th at 10:30am.
