Obituary of Gretchen Suzanne Farrell

Gretchen Suzanne Farrell of Land O’Lakes, Florida passed away unexpectedly on July 11th 2022. She was born April 16th 1974 in York, Pennsylvania, the youngest daughter of Susan Farrell of Renfrew, PA and the late Michael Farrell of Felton, PA. 

A 1992 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1996 and a Masters in Counseling in 1998 from Shippensburg University. After graduation she traveled and lived abroad for a few years before working in the higher education system for Lehigh University (PA), Allegheny College of MD, and Bard College (NY). From 2016-2021 she worked as a family consultant for Kidspeace Foster Care & Community Programs in Kingston, NY. Gretchen was currently employed in the local restaurant industry. 

She had an active outdoor travel lifestyle and cared deeply for her dogs.  

She is survived by sisters Victoria Hanley (Jim) of Land O’Lakes, FL; Michelle Morgan (Gary) of Saxonburg, PA and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. To nieces Kaya Morgan, Bailey Quinones (Mike), Zoe Hanley, and nephew Grady Morgan she was a beloved aunt . 

At Gretchen’s request there will be no viewing nor memorial service. Since friends and family are distantly distributed we are encouraged to gather informally in local outdoor settings to celebrate life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Kidspeace Foster Care & Community Programs (Kingston, NY); St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or to a local animal rescue organization.
