Brian was among the first people I met when I began attending St. James United Methodist Church in 1997. He was warm and outgoing and made us feel right at home. That's the way he was with everyone. Brian loved God and loved people, especially teenagers, and was a youth volunteer at the church along with my husband and me. All the youth loved Brian, who despite being an adult could relate to them on their level. He had no shame when it came to doing things to share Jesus with them, whether that was eating some crazy concoction from a blender on stage or talking one-on-one with a teen who needed someone to understand.
I recall once we were chaperoning a concert and remarked how the 40th birthday of Michael Jackson that weekend made us both feel old. But Brian never acted "old." He was always up on the latest trends, which helped him remain connected to the young people. However, he also was compassionate in the therapy he provided to veterans he served while working at the James A. Haley VA Hospital. What I liked most about Brian, besides the fact that he once had pet snake, was his authenticity. In all the years, I knew him, I don't recall ever hearing him say a negative word about anyone. His temperament made him an excellent special education teacher at Wiregrass Ranch High School, where he blessed many students and families. When he married Janell Price, I was so happy for them. They were a perfect match. My husband and I will cherish our memories of being with them, whether it was double date to dinner or in our home to watch a football game. I'm sure Brian, after meeting Jesus, is now shaking hands and high-fiving everyone in heaven. I look forward to him greeting me there one day. Rest in Peace and Joy, Friend.

I had the pleasure of traveling to Cuba with Brian, and although we visited different churches after our arrival, we had plenty of time to get to know each other during the mission team & covenant meetings as well as the travel to and from Cuba. He rests now in the Father's arms and we shall see him again when our time comes. His sweet, sweet spirit will be missed while we wait!
