Caryl Malone

Obituary of Caryl Jo Malone

Caryl Jo (Black) Malone of The Villages Florida gained her angle wings on Thursday, December 30th at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother Sister and Friend with such a compassionate personality and a special sparkle which didn’t come to an end with her life. She was lovingly surrounded by her Daughter, Grandchildren and Son-In-Law holding her hand at home, all of whom will carry on her legacy.

Caryl completed her bachelors degree at The University of Ohio.  She initially set her sights on interior design and always had an incredible eye for decorating. But she eventually found herself in the world of Human Resources for which she developed a true passion and thrived in for many years.  She worked for companies such as Lincoln National Life Insurance, Aetna US Healthcare and Waste Management.  She met the love of her life (preceded in death in 2019) Patrick Joseph Malone Sr. and was married for 50 beautiful years.  Caryl was born in Elyria OH but she and Patrick lived in Pittsburgh PA, Ft. Wayne IN, Atlanta GA and after retiring from Waste Management they fell in love with and moved to The Villages FL.  She is also preceded in death by Mother, Helen Elizabeth Black; Father, Hugh Kerr Black and beloved son, Patrick Joseph Malone Jr.  She is survived by sisters Sondra Hoff and Linda Cusick, Daughter Kelly Shea Kuethe (Joseph), grandchildren Makenna Elizabeth and Joseph Patrick (JP) Kuethe as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Caryl kept a very active social calendar.  She and Patrick had a mutual love of Neil Diamond, travel and golf.  Caryl played in tournaments, was a member of women’s golf groups, she played bunco with friends, went to movies and was always on the move. She and Patrick also traveled to many exotic locations, loved sailing cruises and even kissed the Blarney Stone on their favorite trip to Ireland.  She adored her friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Those who knew Caryl felt as if her life was cut short.  But anyone blessed to be touched by her also understand the imprint she left on our hearts exceeds the quantity of time she was with us.  She had a way of always finding the positive in any situation.  She always had a cheerful and positive attitude and showed compassion for anyone she met. However, that was never mistaken for the immense strength she showed in every aspect of her life.  She valued family and friendship above all.  She always made it a priority to keep in touch with family and so many incredible friends whether from high school, college, the old days or new.  She sent cards or gifts for every occasion. Many have said they always felt relaxed and in remarkable company when in her presence.  She was also admired and cherished by her daughter Kelly Shea. They were truly best friends with a bond rarely seen.

Kelly Shea and her family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in her honor on March 19th, 2022 from 2 PM to 6 PM at Belle Glade Country Club, 434 Moyer Loop, The Villages FL, 32163.  It will be held on their large outdoor patio which provides significant room for social distancing.
