Obituary of Ann Riecan

Ann Riecan 98, was called home to her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2021. She was born in Gary IN to George & Elizabeth (Remak) Magura on June 5, 1923.

Ann loved time on the Indiana family farm after her mother’s passing at her age of 5; excelled in cheerleading, graduating from Gary Tolleston High School.

Ann filled her remarkable lifetime with abundant careers in IN and FL: 

LPN Chicago School of Nursing 1943, Baer Brant, Anderson Co., US Steel, Chuck Wagon Diner, Gary Public Schools, Glen Park Bakery, Broadmoor Restaurant, housecleaning, catering, Bakery business, Saddlebrook Resort, Lake County Association for the Retarded volunteer, church volunteer,

Shriners Hospital (over 17 yrs, 5,300+ hrs) volunteer; 2010 Shriners Volunteer of Year

Awarded: ServiceToMankind SERTOMA 2013-14

 

Predeceased by Husband, Andrew Riecan, Jr. of 55 yrs,

Siblings: Elizabeth Bobor, George Magura, Marianne Phillips,

Step-Mother: Anna Magura,

Cousins: Ann Schauer, Maxine Kviklis,

Great Grandson: Donald (DJ) Faerber

 

Ann’s Living Legacy-

Daughters:  Linda Ikeler, Donna Riecan-Swenson (Peter), Rhonda (Dave) Henley,

Granddaughter: Michelle Ikeler Faerber (Donald),

Great-Grandchildren:  Sydney, Cody, Jeremy,

Cousin: Eddie Janosov, Niece: Betty Anne Chapas and many cherished relatives

 

The Lord is my Shepherd;... Psalm 23, Always warmed her heart.

Ann will always be remembered for her beautiful smile “that could light up a room”

and her gentle personality; she loved being with people.

She warmed every heart, a life example, a blessing to all.

Her talents, spirit, caring devotion and love endeared her to family and dear friends.

Her light will never diminish; it will live in Heaven and within us all.

 

Ann loved mail; the family welcomes continued sharing of memories from all the hearts she touched.

A memorial service at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will be conducted at a later date.
