Obituary of Violet Edenny Woodward

Violet Edenny “Snookie” Woodward (94), of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on November 23, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born April 18, 1927 in Tampa, Florida to Samuel B. and Wilhelmina (Avin) Hopson. She grew up in Drexel, Pasco County and Ybor City.

She married the love of her life, Wayne O.E. Woodward on October 27, 1944. She was a pioneer of Drexel/Denham/Land O’ Lakes where she and Wayne were citrus growers. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for their citrus business.

Edenny was a fiercely independent woman who was very creative and enjoyed nature. In her free time she enjoyed reading, gardening, hiking, basket weaving, wood carving, and drawing. She was a member of the Florida Trail Association and the Bromeliad Guild of Tampa Bay.

She loved her family and was known for her cooking, family gatherings, and no-nonsense way of thinking and living.

Edenny is preceded in death by her husband Wayne O.E. Woodward, sisters Gail Krikava and Francis Hopson Schumann.

She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Donald) Opitz and Elaine (James) McComas, her granddaughters Jennifer Opitz, Nicole (David) Hanvey and her great-grandson Matthew David Hanvey, sisters Jacqulyn Muncy and Jannice (Tom) Groh, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held at County Line Cemetery, Lutz on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
