Obituary of Merite Jean-Louis

Merite “Manmi” Jean-Louis, daughter of the late Filistin Augustin and Ismelie Joseph was born January 24, 1953, in Haiti. She attended a sewing school and spent most of her life working as an accomplished seamstress. She gave her life to Christ in the mid 80s and served him until her last breath. Her talents were many, a natural born nurturer, matriarch of her family, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, prayer partner to many, a prayer warrior, feeding the homeless in Haiti, and assisting anyone that solicited her help.

Merite was a sweet, compassionate, forgiving, and caring individual. As a result of her generous spirit, she was loved by many. Her love for Christ, her compassion for the less fortunate, and her willingness to share with others will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving and amazing mother, not only to her biological children, but also a mother figure to her nieces, nephews and many others. She quietly departed this life and went home to Jesus on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at University of Miami Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Sherline Jean-Louis, sons, Jean-Marie, Hericot, Jimmy, and James Jean-Louis.

Merite’s beautiful life will forever be cherished and remembered through the lives of those she left behind. Grandchildren, Melky Mascary, Jeremiah, Elijah, Shiloh, Ermma, Rivenscky, Hermrick, Leah, Ernesto, Steve, Matina, Nadal, and Nade Jean-Louis. Daughters-in-law, Ermose, Ingread, Marjorie Jean-Louis. Sisters, Ciliane Honorat, Nanna Decius, Philianise Absolu, Ofanise and Filisna Augustin. Nieces and nephews, Elda, Benny, Benson, and Bernard Honorat, Tana, Walglais, Willy, and Nemy Decius, Cheslie, Wilgens, Romel, Philip, and Junior Pierre, Gilbert, Rachel and Geommaney Absolu, Magda, Erlanne, Aliciene, Derita, Alina, Widlline, Wilner, Willber, and Willy Pierre.
