Obituary of Freda Aman

Freda Futch Aman (née Freda Flora Futch), of Tampa, Florida, went to be with Jesus on Monday, May 31, 2021. She was 94 years old, and died peacefully of natural causes. She was born in Mango, Florida on November 5, 1926. Her beloved husband, Edward Bruce Aman, preceded her when he left his earthly tent on August 4, 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents, Hugh Jennings Futch and Vera Bea Simmons Futch; her sisters, Zelda Futch and Glenda Futch Lentz; her brother, Wilbur Owen Futch.

Freda is survived by her three children, Philip Bruce Aman (Gay), Belinda Aman Pope (Ted), and Jeffrey Allen Aman (Julie); and by her seven grandchildren, Bradie Leigh McNeill, Edward Bradley Aman (Evelyn), Scott Robert Pope (Jennifer), Carrie Pope Damera (Josh), Jenna Aman DeRosse (Anthony), Jared Philip Aman (Olivia), and Joshua Stephen Aman. She is also survived by ten precious great-grandchildren.

Freda was the valedictorian of her class at Turkey Creek High School, and won the County spelling bee two years in a row. She met Bruce in high school, and they were married on May 5, 1945 before he went off to war. They were married 61 years.

Freda was an active member at Lake Carroll Baptist Church and later, at Christ Community Church.  She taught Vacation Bible School for many years, worked in various school PTA's, and served as a volunteer at University Community Hospital. She had cherished friends through church, her bridge club, and the "Just Right" group of local veterinarians and spouses.

In addition to being the bookkeeper for Armenia Animal Hospital, Freda raised beautiful roses, was a fabulous Southern cook, and enjoyed sewing & crafts. She had a beautiful singing voice and would always be humming and singing throughout the day.  Freda shared her love of the beaches at Indian Shores with all of her family, and she and Bruce loved to have the grandkids over and take them on trips.

For the last 10 years of her life, Freda struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. While dementia limited her activities, she still enjoyed music, meals and having her back rubbed. Many thanks to her personal caregivers and the family at Arden Courts of Tampa for loving on her and taking care of her in her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
