Edith L Sutyak age 85, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2021. She was born on December 23rd, 1935 to her German parents Ernest and Barbara Frey in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was a trailblazer in 1942 when she suffered an acute appendicitis and was one of the first children treated with lifesaving penicillin. Soon after graduating from Nursing School, she met her husband and soulmate, Daniel Sutyak. They moved often with their three children while Dan proudly served in the US Coast Guard as a Lt Commander. Eventually retiring to the Land O Lakes community in 1974. Edie went on to a career outside of the home and retired from Burdines Department store after 20 years as a retail manager.
Edie loved spending time in the kitchen, making wonderful German food and desserts for her family and friends. An avid traveler, she went many times to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the west coast visiting family. Edie was a dedicated volunteer at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, working in the Kitchen and at the Rummage Sales. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, playing cards. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1977. She and Dan had many fun times with her sorority sisters and their husbands.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Daniel. Survived by her children, Daniel Sutyak Jr and wife Wendy, Mariellen Kempton and husband Allen, Diane Kempton and husband Greg. Grandchildren, Nicholas Kempton, Daniel Sutyak III, Adam and Madison Kempton. Special mention to her Grand-Corgi Reggie. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 24th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutz with a light lunch immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
