Obituary of Michael Mattwell

Michael O. Mattwell passed away in Tampa, Florida on March 17, 2021 at the age of 97. Mike was born and grew up in East Setauket, New York, served in the U.S. Navy as a dive bomber pilot, graduated from Pratt University with an Electrical Engineering degree, and started his own golf course automatic irrigation company. He resided in Glen Cove, New York and then Ocala, Florida.  He was a top amateur golfer in the New York tri-state and Florida areas – playing and competing into his mid 90’s. He lived his life with humor and dignity, deeply loved his family, was passionate for the game of golf, and was very proud to have served in the Navy.

He will be deeply missed and is survived by his daughters, Nancy Hegarty (Tom), Susan Fiacco (Bill), his sister Judy Mattwell, and grandchildren Katelyn Hegarty, Sabrina Fiacco, Nick Fiacco, and Isabella Fiacco.
