Obituary of Edmund James Furey

Edmund James Furey, 97, of Tampa, Florida and formerly of Carroll, Iowa passed away on February 11, 2021. He was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Frank and Anna (Ruth) Furey. Mr. Furey served in the United States Army during WWII and was an Attorney for many years prior to his retirement. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Furey was active in the Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, Right to Life and Smarts.  Survived by his sons: Sean (Cathy) Kevin (Lucy), Malachi, Brian (Wendy) Matt (Zhannie) and Tim (Anya); daughter, Sheila Petrocelli, (Dennis). Also survived by grandchildren: Erin, Meghan, Evan, Dominic, Mary Catherine, Tessa, Nick, Meghan, Sarah, Faith, Frank, and Maya and 2 great grandchildren: Rooster and Cricket.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen; parents: Frank and Anna Furey; sisters: Rosemary Steele, Eileen Reed and Sally Dempsey. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd., Tampa. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Church. Committal Service to follow at Florida National Cemetery with Honors at 1:00 p.m.
