I will miss you very much my nephew! I recall your bright eyes as a baby and young man full of mischief and laughter, how you played with Craig and your younger cousins and especially you and Craig playing with Lego. We will miss your brilliant mind and your sharp "come backs" during discussions. I know that one day we will all meet again, but until then may you soar with the angels and REST IN PEACE!
Love you Derek!

My earliest memory of my cousin Derek was hanging out with him in NYC in the winter of 2001. I was surprised that he didn't wear a jacket, just a thick flannel shirt but he really was not bothered by the weather at all.
He had a sort of dry sense of humor that suited him well and often laughed at his own jokes or remarks. It was quite funny. We did spend that afternoon with our twin cousins as well and it was a fun time in the big city!
After that we spent many, many holidays together and family gatherings. While he was usually on the quiet side, he was always an interesting person to talk to once you got him going. He will be missed but is resting peacefully now.
Rest In Peace, Derek
Cousin, Ricarda

My earliest memories of Derek back home in Trinidad are that he was quite a little chatterbox and a real busybody. He was the cutest little thing, full of mischief, and ever so charming. In fact, at around the age of 7, he proposed to me, his older cousin, trying to sweep me off my feet. :) I also remember how excited he would be to visit my home so that he could play with my pet parrot, Macho. Years after his family left Trinidad, he would ask about Macho. In more recent years, Derek may not have been quite so chatty but one thing is for sure – he loved his family. My heart goes out to his Mom, his sisters and all those whose lives he touched. Cherish all the good memories and may they bring smiles to your faces rather than tears to your eyes. Rest in peace, Derek!
