Joann Land

Obituary of Joann Land

Joann M. Land, 82 of Land o Lakes, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2020.  She was born in Quitman, Georgia, and moved between there and Arkansas in her youth and happily settled to Florida in 1949. She soon became the mother of two beautiful children David and Crystal Miller, by her first husband, Leroy Miller. She was an amazing classy, and hard-working woman and a wonderful friend to all her knew her. After her divorce, Joann became a Flowers Baking Company manager after marrying the absolute love of her life Rudy Land. They enjoyed going to the beach every weekend and traveling to their second home in Vian, Oklahoma, to visit Bill and Betty Land. She loved all things in nature. She loved to birdwatch and feed the squirrels every morning and sit on her swing on the back porch in the evening to watch all of the different types of animals in her bayou canal to relax. She loved flowers and was a natural-born green thumb. There was no match for her beautiful and charming garden. She also loved going to yard sales and flea marketing on the weekends. She loved classic antiques, but there was nothing in the world that she loved more than her family. She loved all of her grandchildren and always talked about them and how proud she was. She used to joke about how she couldn’t believe what a huge family she made from having just two kids. She never missed a holiday; her absolute favorite was Christmas; she always had the biggest tree with a beautiful lit angel with wings. She loved spending the holidays with family and cooking for every holiday. She loved the television show The Voice and all types of nature shows, never missing the CMT awards. Her favorite music was old-style country and always had it in the background. She loved watching football and making chicken wings before the games. She was loved and respected by all of her neighbors and friends in the bayou in Land O’ Lakes and all those around her—making friendships that lasted a lifetime. She is preceded in death by her brother, Glen Dollarhyde and sister,s Shirley Derita Miller, Mary Love Conley, Marie Aljean Reaves, and Edith Hicks. She is survived by her son, David Miller, and stepdaughter Tracy Land. She had eight grandchildren, David Miller Jr, Joshua Miller, Jason Miller, Melissa Ann Reid, William Miller, Jennifer Rodgers, Terry Jackson, and Destin Land. She had twenty-three great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and will never be replaced in our hearts. Her last days were spent reminiscing about the great times she had with her family, and her last wish was to give all of them a hug. May she forever rest in peace and know that we all loved her dearly. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26 from 2-3 pm at Loyless Funeral Home 5310 Land O'Lakes Blvd. Land O'Lakes, FL 34639.
