When I was a Boy Scout, I would sometimes be called on to sit with the Ferguson boys when their mom and dad went out. I felt more like an older cousin than a sitter.
I remember watching the Flintstones on a big (for those days) color console TV and trying to keep track of three boys who seemed to move together - independently. It was so much fun hanging with them that I felt a bit guilty getting paid for it.
Later, when I was on the Norton Rescue Squad, the Ferguson boys were a constant, positive feature at Station 3 and all the Firefighter picnics and events. When I think of them – especially Fred (He was Freddie then) – I remember smiles.
At times like this – it’s good to remember the smiles.

Tracey, Mike, and Katie,
We are so sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. We have nothing but wonderful memories of you all from the days when our sons played sports in North Attleboro. Fred was a great coach and an even better man. He epitomized what it means to serve others. You knew him as a loving husband and father, and we grieve your tremendous loss. We hope that it helps you to know that Fred is remembered fondly. We wish you peace, and hope that your memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead.
Peace,
Jim, Sharon, Greg and Ethan Reddington

Rest in peace Fred. We are all better people for being a part of your life. Despite your challenges and daily struggles you remained positive and focused on being the best you could be. You are a role model that we all should try to emulate. If we did the world would be a much better place. I had cake and ice cream for breakfast this morning to honor you. We all miss you already. You are in good company with the other angels including Mom and Finn. I have included a picture of you, Bill and I on the Appalachian Trail, way back in August of 1976. You earned your Hiking Merit Badge on that trip which put you over the top to gain your Eagle Scout Award. You accomplished that goal before you tuned 15. Amazing dedication and drive that served you well in life. We love you and you have left a legacy of love, integrity, commitment and valor.
Brother Dave
