Joseph Troness

Obituary of Joseph Troness

With great heartbreak, we announce the passing of Joseph Alan Troness on Thursday, February 27th, 2020, following an almost 16 month long battle with cancer. The beloved husband of Tara, and father of Carter and Mya, Joe was a funny, thoughtful, and brave person as he faced his battle with cancer. Joe loved to live and laugh and faced every day with a determination that was enviable. His crazy accents and quick laugh will be greatly missed.

Joe worked as the Director of Construction for Ryan Companies in Tampa, FL.  He loved his job and his coworkers and took great pride in his role. Joe graduated from Moorhead State University in 2004 with a degree in Construction Management. He went on to obtain his Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was an active member of Leadership Tampa Bay as well as many volunteer positions throughout his life.

Joe was born on August 30, 1979 to Thomas and Arlene Troness of Sisseton, South Dakota. As a young boy, Joe loved construction and built himself a small work bench in his family’s garage. He loved to work even then and held many jobs from a paper route to lawn mowing businesses.

In addition to his wife and children, Joe is survived by his parents, Thomas and Arlene Troness; brothers, Justin (Terri), Jesse, and John Troness; brother-in-law, Jason (Brittany) Van Thiel; father-in-law, David Van Thiel; two nephews; and many relatives and friends.

In keeping with Joe’s wishes and his ever practical personality, and in leu of a formal service, memorial funds have been set up to help fight lung cancer at Lungevity and a Scholarship Fund for Carter and Mya’s continuing education.
