Obituary of Matthew Alexander Baker

BAKER, Matthew Alexander “Matt”, 25, of Land O Lakes, Florida, passed away, Tuesday, December 17, 2019. He was born on December 12, 1994 in Tampa and has been a life-long resident of Florida.

Matt was a 2013 graduate of Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel. He was a loyal fan of many of the Tampa Bay area sports teams.

He was creative and had a strong work ethic. He worked in carpentry and construction, and appreciated being able to see the tangible results of hard work.  

He enjoyed music of many genres, and had a bit of an eclectic “old soul” vibe to his tastes. He loved nature and outdoor activities, much time was spent at the beach, fishing or camping. He lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures and spending time chatting and joking with friends and family. He had a warm and accepting nature, and could make a stranger feel like a friend with ease. He was often able to connect with people in a deep and lasting way.

He was kind-hearted and enjoyed caring for his three cats and animals in general; some of his favorite work days involved construction projects at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa.

Matt is survived by his parents, Bruce and Suzanne Baker; brother, Jesse Baker; sister, Lindsay Baker; and many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O Lakes. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
