Obituary of Ruth S Stortz

STORTZ, Ruth, a.k.a. “Sam” or "Bubble," 74, of Tampa, Florida passed away November 12, 2019. She was born in Washington D.C. and moved to Tampa from Fort Myers in 1986. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be remembered for her genuine concern for others, her loving heart, and her beautiful smile. She loved spending time with family and cherished every moment. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Hirst Steadman; Melvin Lee Steadman; and brother, Melvin Lee Steadman Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, John D. Stortz; son, John W. Stortz (Bill); daughter, Elizabeth Stortz Riggio (Beth) and her husband, Jim Riggio; sister, Mildred Pappas; grandchild, Ava Riggio; and grand-dogs, Miss Trix and Sunshine. A funeral service will take place at Loyless Funeral Home on November 15, 2019 at 10:00 am. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Ruth’s memory.
