Obituary of Sumner Richard Ely

Lt. Colonel Sumner "Dick" Ely, 85 of Wesley Chapel, passed away October 15, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lorna; his son and daughter-in-law, Sumner David (April) Ely; his daughter and son-in-law, Tory and Ron Smyntek; 5 grandchildren, David, Taylor, Ashley. Nick and Kate. He was a proud graduate of California Berkley and enjoyed working on cars, tennis, watching football and basketball and loved to travel. He retired honorably from the United States Army attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family has entrusted care and services to Loyless Funeral Home.
