To the Pirone family.... I am so sorry to hear about the loss of mom. I had the wonderful chance to meet her at Maria’ and Bylli’s wedding and sat at the table with the whole Pirone family. We talked about everything under the sun including God and her faith. She loved God and her children. She said “and my husband of course!!” :-) Sometimes you are seated at a certain table that was divinely issued by god. I found in the small two day interaction that I had with her that I supported her mentally in conversation and she also taught me that she supported me in return by a much needed hug and wise words of wisdom after the passing of my father. Please celebrate her life as she has never lost a battle with you are finally with the Lord. She still lives with the spirit and instilled in her kids. Continue to let her light shine through you! May God continue to bless all who has been effected by her spiritual being leaving. “Do me Proud” as I once heard her say.

Every Mother’s Day I create an image I call Mammu. Mammu is ancient Sumerian for “the lady of life” and became what we know today as Mom, Mama, or Mother. Ninkharsag in a few versions of the cuneiform is given the title Mammu as creator of the humans, and Mammu is often associated with Inanna who is the goddess of fertility among other things. Mammu is also related to Nammu (or Akkadian Tiamat) who is the goddess who gave birth to An (heaven) and Ki (earth). She also was the first goddess to represent the Apsu, the life giving waters. The first Mammu I created was a photograph of an ancient Babylonian -Mesopotamian terracotta relief found in the British Museum thought to depict Inanna. It is called the “Queen of the Night.” I was born at night at 12:53 am on June 8th. Therefore, I thought I would create the first drawing of Mammu among symbols depicting my birth and beliefs and other symbolic things. The Mammu evolved ever since and as a tribute to my mother, I create a final Mammu. I love you mom beyond love and I know you love me more. Praise God Always
