Obituary of Marianne McDonald Van Broekhoven

Marianne McDonald (Barnett) VanBroekhoven, 68, passed away on July 30, 2019. She was born Wednesday, August 16, 1950 in Dundee, Scotland to the late Douglas and Flora (McDonald) Barnett and late brother Douglas Barnett. At 5 years old, Marianne and her family moved to the United States.

Marianne graduated from Naples High School and then obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. She worked for many years as a successful sales professional in the paper products industry and was later a small business owner and operator of Ridge Manor Campground.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Alison (VanBroekhoven) Winterroth and Jacqueline (VanBroekhoven) Sahm; their father Garry VanBroekhoven, and three beautiful grandchildren, Elise Marie Winterroth, Jacob Almon Winterroth, and Luke Van Sahm. She also has one granddaughter on the way.

Marianne was a devoted grandmother and adored spending time with her beloved grandchildren, with whom she was very close. She also enjoyed reading, volunteering, cooking and baking. Marianne was known to show her love by taking care of others, small acts of service, and sharing her homecooked food with family and friends.

Marianne was an active member of the Land O’ Lakes Friends of the Library, a not-for-profit organization focused on supporting and enriching community library programs. She dedicated many volunteer hours organizing book sale fundraisers and other programs.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 18, at 4:00 pm at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O'Lakes, Blvd. Land O'Lakes, FL 34639, immediately followed by a celebration of life at 5:30 at the family home. Friends and family are welcomed to attend either or both events.
