Obituary of James Irving McKendree

MCKENDREE, James “Big Jimmy” Irving Sr., 73 of Tampa, Florida passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in St. Petersburg, but grew up in Tampa. James proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a Master Electrician with the Local Union IBEW 915. James retired from the Veterans Administration after 20 plus years with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. During his high school years, James enjoyed playing sports; he liked basketball and track most of all. Later in life, he coached little league baseball. James is preceded in death by his parents, George and Katie. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty; sons, James McKendree Jr. and his partner Kim; daughters, Deanne McKendree, Amy Campbell and her husband Kevin; sister, Elaine McKendree; and grandchildren, Kai, Kennedee, Jordan, and Alex.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O’ Lakes. The family will received visitors one hour prior to the service.
