Obituary of Jere Gene Lonon

Jere Gene Lonon, 75, a long time Land O’ Lakes resident, passed away in his home on the morning of March 30th, 2019. Jere is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Lonon; daughter, Lena Fernandez (Tim); son, Jere Lonon Jr. (Raquel); grandchildren, Amy Lonon, Jeremy Lonon, Haili Fernandez, Robert Fernandez, Alli Fernandez, Brittany Ferrell, Chelsea Lonon, and Ashley Lonon; great granddaughter, Aliyah; sisters, Shirly “Annette” Priestley, Judy Maples; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Weldon Lonon and Levina “Maxine” Swabb; his son, Terry Lonon; daughter in law, Sherri Lonon; and siblings; Weldon “Biddy” Lonon, and Judy Nixon.

Jere was born in Alamo, Tennessee on July 3rd, 1943. He moved to Tampa during his childhood. He worked as a drywall finisher. He met his wife, Sharon, and married on April 19th, 1969. They had their first child, Terry, on July 21st, 1971 and then their daughter, Lena, on August 16th, 1974. Jere lived in Tampa most of his life before settling in Land O’ Lakes where he and his wife lived together.

Jere enjoyed fishing, football, and watching westerns, but his favorite thing to do was play with his great granddaughter, Aliyah. Jere was a devout Christian and frequently studied the Bible. He loved his family and was surrounded by them on his final days. He lived a very full and happy life.

The family will hold a family and friends gathering to remember him and celebrate his life at a later date.
