Obituary of Michael Stephen Haff

HAFF, Michael Stephen, 53, of Lutz, Florida passed away Saturday February 16, 2019. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Michael met his wife, Donna at FSU in 1987, married her in 1989, and remained in Tallahassee, Florida with her until 2007. They eventually moved to the Tampa Bay area where he remained until his untimely death. Michael worked as a Director of Internal Audit and Compliance at Seminole Electric Cooperative. He loved FSU Football, The Tampa Bay Rays, and was a passionate Tampa Bay Lightning fan, as well as a Florida State Alumni.

Michael’s passion for hockey served as a bonding experience with his son, Matt, and their bond was as solid as the ice at the Amalie Arena. He was proud of his daughter, Allison, for overcoming obstacles and following her dream of becoming a nurse.  Michael was also an animal lover and treated all of the family pets like his children. His devoted “puppy,” Cooper, keeps waiting by the door for him to come home and give him a treat he “accidentally” dropped on the floor. Michael is preceded in death by his mother who passed in 2012, Ann Moon; and his daughter who passed in 1996, Catherine Elizabeth. He went to be with God 23 years to the day that his daughter briefly came and left this world. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Donna; his son, Matthew Stephen; daughter, Allison Danielle; father, Lawrence and his partner, Patricia Brooks; brothers, David Haff, his wife, Leticia Garcia, and their daughter, AnnMarie; sister, Paula Frazier, her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Olivia. St. Augustine held a special place in all the hearts of his family members and they plan to bring him there one last time in the fall. A service will take place at 2:00 pm on February 23, 2019 at Loyless Funeral Home.
