Obituary of Dorothy R. McDonald

McDonald, Dorothy R. (Dot), 87 of Tampa passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009. She was born in Shelby, MI. Dot was a graduate of Duke University and Western Michigan University. She was a retired teacher and high school guidance counselor. She also worked alongside her husband for many years as owners/operators of the Oceana Canning Co. in Shelby, MI. Dot was a member of Delta Gamma, Pebble Creek Women’s Club, DAR and the Shelby Congregational Church. Dot loved Duke basketball and never missed a game on television. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dotte David. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Howard C. McDonald; daughter, M.J., of Tampa; son, Brian of Cincinnati, OH and grandchildren in Georgia, Ohio, Illinois and New York. The family would like to sincerely thank Pastor David Gardner-Tweed of Joyful Servants Lutheran Church; Edmund Grant, M.D.; Sarah Kline, M.D.; Yasir Alhassani, M.D.; Judy Jung and Priscilla Workman. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Loyless Funeral Home.
