Obituary of Earl Edward Vance

VANCE, Earl Edward, 94, passed away February 2, 2009. He was born to Edward B. and Alice E. Vance in Marengo, graduated from Paoli High and Hanover College, all in southern Indiana. He earned degrees in Physics and Chemistry and went on to get a graduate degree in Metallurgy. He worked for Blaw Knox Company in East Chicago, IN and filled major supervisory positions at the East Chicago, Indiana, Wheeling WV and Pittsburgh plants. He retired in 1977 as president of Blaw Knox Equipment Co. in Blaw Knox, PA and moved to Winter Park, FL. He also was a dollar a year advisor during the Eisenhower administration. Earl was an avid and talented golfer and intense competitor. He moved to Ridge Manor, FL in 1990 and was a member of Faith Presbyterian Evangelical Church, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and Rotarian. Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Erma, Eleanor and Meta and brother, Carl. He leaves his loving wife of 70 years, Darlene; daughter, Barbara Ann; son, David and his wife, Janie; two brothers, Lewis and Mahlon; sister, Elma; grandchildren, Darcy, Pierce, Rebecca, Forest and Faith; great grand daughter, Hannah; 11 nephews and 2 nieces. A memorial and interment will be held in April in Valeene, IN. Memorials may be sent to Faith Presbyterian Evangelical Church, 200 Mt. Fair Ave., Brooksville, FL 34601.
