Obituary of Thomas Joseph Sullivan

SULLIVAN, Thomas J., Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006. He was born January 7, 1921, in Excelsior, MN. He graduated from Edison High School in 1938. He enlisted in the Army July 13, 1942. His WWII service included campaigns in North Africa and Italy. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1945. Tom and Phyllis were married in 1955. His distinguished professional career included hotel manager at the Dykman Hotel in Minneapolis, MN and the Hillsboro Hotel, Tampa, FL, shrimp boat owner and CEO of a commercial shrimping Corp. in French Giuana, South America, Building Contractor with Suarez Bros. Construction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius & Jeanette Sullivan, brothers, James & Daniel, sisters, Olivia & Jeanette, brother-in-law, Robert Lee and by his faithful dog, Liz. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis; sons, Timothy, Thomas, Jr., Toby; sister, Helen Lee and sister-in-law, Shirley Mills. Tom was a devoted family man, he loved all activities connected with nature and the great outdoors. He was greatly interested in preserving wildlife and their habitat. Tom will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
