Obituary of Gerald Schwager

SCHWAGER, Gerald, 63, of Odessa, FL, passed peacefully to eternal rest on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Carol(Venti) Schwager for forty years. He was born in Hartford, CT, Jerry worked and lived in East Hartford prior to moving to Florida in 2004. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he received an Army commendation medal for his brave service. Jerry spent the last three years working at Ethan Allen. He enjoyed his work and it sustained him during his illness. In his own silent way, Jerry set an example for his family and was a blessing to anyone fortunate enough to know him. While the family mourns our loss, we rejoice in our remembrance. He leaves his son Michael and his wife Julie; daughter Patty Rodny and her husband Steven; cherished grandchildren: Tess, Carter, Quinn, Avery, Grant his brothers, sister and many additional family members and many friends, notably, Beverly & Patty Laporte, Grace Crowley and Danny & Patty Locke. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Maggie. The family gives special recognition to Jerry’s brother Bob for his love and endless efforts during Jerry’s illness as well as Ethan Allen who supported Jerry up until the end. In addition, the family is eternally grateful to Moffitt Cancer Center & Dr. Eric Haura & Dr. Amy Zuber for the exceptional health care they provided. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center, Thoracic Unit, 12902 Magnolia Dr., Tampa, Florida hn glover death datepsychology and lung cancer
